VOLUNTEERS & MEMBERS

Volunteer Program

The mission of the Continental Sloop Providence is to provide a safe, fun and exciting stage to teach the history of Narragansett Bay, skills of the lost art of square rig sailing, and other topics. Due to the enormous operating expenses, the volunteer program is a very important and integral part of the Continental Sloop Providence.

As a volunteer, you can help the operation in countless ways, from sanding and painting (maintenance to the vessel), to office and phone calls - your time and skills, whatever they may be, will be greatly (and thankfully!) used by the Continental Sloop Providence. Your donation of your services (no matter how small) is valued and absolutely no prior sailing experience is necessary. Every volunteer will be given an opportunity to sail aboard the Continental Sloop Providence - in fact, we strongly recommend that you take a sail with us - for some people it has been the experience of a lifetime!
