The Sloop Providence offers a number of educational programs. Sloop Providence Dockside is a fun and engaging way to introduce students to the Sloop Providence and what life was like aboard an 18th century sailing vessel. Classroom Under Sail offers an innovative instructional tool for educators and an unique educational experience for sutdents with tie-ins to marine science; history; goegraphy; physics; algebra; astronomy and literature. The Sloop Providence offers programs that focus on maritime, culrural and ecological history.

Pre-dockside or pre-sail information and in-class prep activities about the Sloop Providence and its history will be provided, as well as information about weather, what to expect, what to wear and what to bring.

In the Cadet Academy and Midshipmen Academy programs, young people join the crew, live aboard the Sloop Providence and sail wherever she sails. Cadets and Midshipmen participate in the hands-on activity of sailing a traditional tall ship – both in “living history” and through lessons on teamwork, discipline, communication and responsibility.

The Continental Sloop Providence is a U.S. Coast Guard inspected and certified and meets or exceeds all safety requirements for a vessel her size and class.
